The KooWeeRup MCC was well represented at the final round of the Off Road Championship held at Omeo on 6/7th October.
The event was held under the KooWeeRup & District MCC name to assist Branden Betts and the Omeo community to run the event. There were 15 KWRMCC members assisting with preparation and running of the event. It was very much appreciated by the enthusiastic locals. Some members headed to Omeo on Wednesday to assist with track set up which ended up being an absolute cracker, a very technical coarse with top riders taking around 20 minutes to complete a full lap. A real treat to have a track of this quality in some of Omeo’s most natural and beautiful terrain.
Club member Daniel Milner was crowned Australian E3 Champion after the event with 11 out of 11 wins for the season, not bad !!
Other Podiums went to: Dex Kelly, Aaron Miles, Chloe Miles, Congratulations to all competing members on a great weekend !!
Some other highlights –
- Wyatt Price had a huge get off after a kicker, holding it for around 50 to 60 meters before being spat over the bars.
- Some added action, prior to the weekends racing a Quad bike challenge was set up over a section of the track dubbed the “Omeo Rhythm” with Hilly (from Omeo Hill Top Pub) taking out the first round with as Terry said “one of the biggest quad jumps” l’ve ever seen. Ned Kelly taking out a well deserved second round win on his big bore 700 quad. The stand-in Club Presidents quad DNF’d, a lack of oil and an absolute flogging being the suspected cause 🙂
- Many members stayed at Omeo caravan park where Big Lou looked after everyone and provided some great food.
- 4 club adventure riders turned up to see for themselves what a great event the Omeo round is, two staying the night and may of been just a little second hand the following day..
It was a great weekend and the KWRMCC has been invited back and is currently looking at a possible April 2019 timeframe for a club dirt bike weekend staying at the Omeo caravan park.
