Star Glen Lodge – A Great Weekend…

Hi Everyone,  just a quick report (and a few photos) of our 2nd Annual Bonnie Doon – Star Glen Lodge weekend held on the 19,20,21/5/23. This year the numbers nearly doubled that of last year, with just under 70 members and families enjoying a great social weekend with plenty of riding, socialising and of course repairing the odd bike or two.  Such a wonderful weekend where mums, dads, kids and extended family members can join in the passion of motorcycling and everything that comes with it, lots of fun, plenty of talking and the odd bruise or two never far away…

Fridays weather down south had turned a little wet around midday but things cleared up heading towards Bonnie Doon (arr the serenity). Those arriving throughout Friday had good conditions on arrival and got in some early riding practice, with the kids enjoying the open spaces. Friday night was a good catch-up around the sitting room fire with the Star Glen staff looking after us as only they can; as always it was a lot of fun !!!

Saturday morning brought a little rain, just to make things interesting both on and off the bikes. The kids being the keenest were ready to go at 9am and the older ones headed for the bush. Returning for a sausage sizzle lunch that was prepared by chefs Mark & Val and delivered hot to the hungry bunch, it went down well.  What was odd, a pig and a sheep arrived at the BBQ sneaking up behind Mark & Val while cooking, it would appear they were just a little early for this years lunch, maybe next year ?? 🙂

A couple of riding groups headed off after lunch, one group heading to Nillahcootie Dam and the other exploring the local forest area’s. Everyone made it back safely although young Harry went missing in action for a while but all turned out good in the end. Saturday night was a little cold and damp and another good excuse to be sitting around the fire chin wagging and enjoying some good food and drink. Sunday morning came around a little too quickly for a few, however after another great Star Glen breaky it was back on the bikes for some, while others started packing up for the trip home.

It was a great weekend and Star Glen has been booked again for next years event. Weekends like this don’t just happen so thank you to all that made it happen, but a special thank you goes to Shane Halfpenny for all the organising and making sure we all had a room or a bed to sleep in, Mark & Val for their BBQ expertise and Jo & Michelle for a medical run to Mansfield Hospital where another KWRMCC Sticker found a home..   A special thanks to all at Star Glen for making us so very welcome and feeding us so very, very well!

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a great weekend, to see the kids proudly wearing their Koowee gear made it even better !!  Can’t wait until next year and know doubt it will keep growing !!

Cheers, Spanner  (PS: Click on photos to enlarge)
